Home Stay

Delve into local life by staying with a village family, at a monastery,or nunnery. Attend monastic chanting sessions, experience the warm hospitality of a local family, or herd yaks on the high-altitude grasslands with local nomads. Learn to cook the authentic local cuisine, work in the barely fields with Tibetan farmers, and attend the summers festivals, where you will chat, dance, sing outdoors at village-wide gathering. Ride your host family’s horse along the mountain passes and gain an understanding of traditional Tibetan life.



Rebkong home Stay

Day 01
Fly in Xining. Meet with your local guide. Welcome dinner at a Tibetan Restaurant
Day 02

Drive to Xining via Shachong monastery, one of the six most important monasteries of Gelugpa tradition, where the great founder / reformer Tsongkhapa had received the ordains and studied. This monastery is quite hidden on the top of Amnye Shachong mountain. We will visit the monastery, get a great view of the Yellow River valley from the monastery while making a kora. After visiting this monastery, we will drive to Rebkong (Chin: Tong Ren). Over night with the home-stay host family.
Day 03
Day hike on Gyawogang mountain. Explore the village temple, fields and farms, spend a day as local.
Day 04
Visit Thangka painting monasteries to appreciate the collection. Talk with well-known Thangka painters about his works over tea, then continue your trip to Labrang (Chin: Xia He). Overnight in Labrang.
Day 05
Guided tour to Labrang Tashi Kyi Monastery in the morning followed by join a kora around the monastery with local pilgrims. Explore the local markets in the afternoon. 
Day 06
Drive to Binglingsi Temple, the ancient site with murals in caves.Cross the Yellow River by boat, then drive to Lanzhou city.
Day 07
Send to the airport. Farewell and fly out to your next destination.

Chabcha home Stay


Day 01
Fly in Xining. Meet with your local guide.
Day 02
Drive eastward to Qinghai Lake, the biggest saline water on the plateau with great view of pastureland. Make a panoramic stop at the Shala Pass for picnic. In the early even, continue the drive to Erthi Village for our home stay.
Day 03
After a traditional breakfast of milk tea, fresh made bread, grounded badly, butter and hard cheese, you will spend the day explore the village life. You can helping in the fields, or attending the herds, wander around to chat with the farmers and visit the mani temple. In the evening you will make momos (Tibetan steamed dumplings) with your host family.
Day 04
Drive to Tsa-Nga Gorge (Chin: Long Yang Xia) along the mountain Sorgu, stops for short hikes and breaks, on route to Trika (Chin: Gui De). Visit Trika old town. 
Day 05
Drive along the yellow river, through the canyon and to Khamra National Geographic Park and visit the hidden Namdzong Nunnery. Around noon we will visit Shachong Monastery, one of the six most important monasteries of Gelugpa tradition, where the great founder / reformer Tsongkhapa had received the ordains and studied. This monastery is quite hidden on the top of Amnye Shachong mountain. We will visit the monastery, get a great view of the Yellow River valley from the monastery while making a kora. After visiting this monastery, we will drive to Xining in the evening. 

Day 06
Visit Tibetan Culture Museum and Dongguan mosque. Trip ends.
