National Education Union (NEU) Strike Action – March 2023

As you will may be aware from the media coverage, one of the teaching unions the National Education Union (NEU), have balloted their members and confirmed that strike action will be taking place on four dates during February and March this year. This is a national dispute with the Government and is there-fore not confined to our School, Academy Trust or Wolverhampton alone. The industrial action (strike) may result in classes or whole schools closing across the United Kingdom.

The dates for the remaining industrial action (strike) are:

• Wednesday 1 March 2023: all eligible members in the West Midlands region
• Wednesday 15 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales
• Thursday 16 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales

Staff who are members of this Union, may decide not to strike, or could strike for one or all of these four days.

At M88官网, this will mean that we may not be able to provide a statutory provision on the above dates for all Year Groups. The decision to close the school to all or some groups of children is never taken lightly. 然而, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, we have to consider very carefully if we are able to make suitable arrangements to ensure the health, safety and well-being of children throughout the day. I would like to consider each day (of the strikes) on an individual basis to en-sure that we can provide the best possible provision.

For Wednesday 1st March, some areas of our provision will be affected and we will be closed to pupils in Years 7, 8, 9和12.

年10,11、13年级学生, Ladder Centre students and 地平线 Centre students will be expected to attend school as normal.

I would therefore advise you to make contingency plans for your child’s care arrangements on the above date (1st March 2023). Please note for future strikes we will be reviewing the impact of the previous strikes to ensure the strike enforced school closures do not unfairly impact the various Year Groups.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but would like to thank you for your cooperation dur-ing difficult times. We will monitor the situation closely and make appropriate decisions on the other two days and ensure that we communicate with you in a timely fashion.
