Aims
Here at Aldersley the house system is designed to foster a sense of community and belonging for all pupils across year groups. We want pupils to engage fully in the house system and wear their house badge with pride! The House System aims to facilitate more mixing between the different year groups, increase community spirit, peer mentoring, boost the existing rewards system, encourage more students to get involved in competitions, and develop leadership opportunities for students in KS3 and KS4.
Structure
Every student who attends Aldersley High School is assigned to a house. There are 4 houses overseen by a Head of House. Each house is also led by student representatives, a House Captain and Vice Captain from each year group. All staff members are also assigned to a house.
There are weekly house activities run by the Heads of House and departments. Although there is an element of competition, points and rewards will be given to all those who participate and follow the school principal of “challenge yourself”. These activities are a great opportunity to meet new people and develop new hobbies and interests. During form on a Friday, there is also a themed quiz, which teaches pupils about things they don’t always get to hear about in lessons. Pupils will also earn points for all of these activities and, as we all know, “points mean prizes”!
